What's Inside
With all the hype around E3 these days, there's one fact that many have overlooked: most of these games and new technologies probably won't reach store shelves for quite some time. I'm going to introduce a couple of games that, even though some of them might be a bit old, still deserve many hours of your time.

Lesson on Speeding

Game: Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed
Developer: Electronic Arts
Minimum Requirements: 200MHz or faster Intel Pentium MMX, Cyrix M2 or AMD processor, 32MB RAM, CD-ROM Drive, 150MB hard disk space, hardware D3D compatible 4MB graphics accelerator with DirectDraw compatible driver, Windows 95/98 with DirectX 7.0

Screen shotTo start off with, let's begin with some driving action from Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Most of you will probably agree that the Need for Speed line of driving simulations are the absolute champion in the driving simulations genre of games. With its cutting edge graphics, realistic sound and creative gameplay, Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed carries on that tradition.

This game has the usual multiplayer and singleplayer races, which are both very great. But the other gameplay modes are what really makes it stand out from the rest of the crowd. First, we have the career mode. You start out in the 1950's with a certain amount of cash for you to purchase your very first Porsche car (mind you, a very old 1950 version). Then, as you enter and participate in tournaments, you can purchase newer cars and move ahead in time. You also have to make sure that you don't bang up your car too much in these races or else it'll cost you a fortune to fix it. The other mode is called "Factory Mode." You play a character joining a special Porsche test-team and you have to complete different "missions" such as making a delivery in a certain amount of time. Because of these 2 different modes, Need for Speed: Porsche Unlimited requires some strategy, which makes it just that much more interesting than the other racing simulations.

The graphics in this game are incredible! Driving along each of the many tracks in this game feels almost like the real thing. I even lost a race once because I was staring too hard at the beautiful scenery in the track (true story)! The car damage is another one of those things that makes this game stand out from the rest. The car will dent and scratch if you bang it too hard and the performance of the car will slowly degrade through many bangs until the car is virtually undrivable.

Whether you're a fan of driving simulations or not, I guarantee that this game will take up many hours of your time.
